Žofín Palace

ŽOFÍN PALACE

Located in the heart of Prague on Slovanský Island. This Neo-Renaissance Mansion was built in honor of Archduchess Sophie, Mother of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The island shores offer the most beautiful views of Prague and Prague Castle

Since the middle of the 19th century, Žofín has become a cultural center of Prague The palace was reconstructed in its present likeness in 1885-87 by Jindřich Fialka. In the 1930s a Garden restaurant and Musical Pavillon were added. In 1992-4, this cultural landmark was restored by Tomáš Šantavý.
